Bromeliad Billbergia Queens Tears
SKU: PKBROBQT
A very old and cold hardy cultivar, Bromeliad Billbergia Queens Tears is sometimes known as Billbergia Hoelscheriana. This upright-growing Bromeliad adds a vibrant touch to gardens or indoor pots with its striking, upright tubular form and dramatic foliage. The plant’s leaf colouration varies significantly depending on light levels—when grown in shaded conditions, the leaves are a rich green adorned with creamy white spots, while in brighter, sunnier locations, the foliage takes on shades of pink, red, or even deep burgundy, retaining its distinctive creamy spotting. This dynamic colour shift makes it a highly decorative and versatile addition to both indoor and outdoor tropical plant collections. The flower bracts on this beautiful plant are a vibrant pink, creating a striking contrast with the cascading blooms, which are delicately tipped with vivid indigo-blue highlights. This dramatic floral display adds a unique and eye-catching element to the plant, enhancing its appeal as both a garden feature and a potted ornamental. The combination of colourful foliage and showy flowers makes Billbergia 'Queen’s Tears' a standout among Bromeliads and makes a wonderful display when planted en masse.

Bromeliads typically grow as a rosette forming epiphyte that will produce pups quite fast allowing this clumping plant to become a feature in a short period of time. Extremely hardy, Bromeliads will cope with all climates, and so long as they do not dry out will happily colonize the fork of a tree or anywhere a small amount of light sandy soil is available. Ensure water is freely available to the plant, and specifically, make sure the cup in the centre of the rosette constantly has water.
Bromeliads tolerate indoor culture, but ensure plants are misted regularly and fed with a liquid fertiliser every 6 weeks or so.
Click & Collect lets you order online and pick up from our Monbulk Gift Shop & Nursery, with no delivery charge. Because many of our plants are grown to order or held until they're at their best, orders generally takes 2 – 4 working days to prepare.
