Xanthosoma Lime Zinger

Showing off fabulously large lime green leaves, Xanthosoma Lime Zinger will add a superb pop of colour to your indoor garden or sheltered outdoor garden. Also known as Alocasia or Colocasia; Xanthosoma Lime Zinger is a stunning variety of Elephant's Ear that features lime green heart shaped foliage during the warmer months. With each individual leaf capable of growing up to 50cm long, this plant is guaranteed to add some WOW! factor wherever it is planted and it looks amazing when used with darker foliaged plants nearby.

A super exotic looking foliage plant, Xanthosoma loves a warm humid environment. It grows best in a sheltered draught free position in bright indirect light and regular watering is required whilst the plant is actively growing. Water once the soil becomes dry and do not do not let the plant become waterlogged as this will cause fungal issues and most likely death. For best results fertilise regularly with a slow release fertiliser and repot every few years using a good quality potting mix for indoor plants. In warmer climates, these gorgeous plants will brighten up a sheltered shady position outside.

Xanthosomas are a little bit more tricky than many other indoor plants; they tend to have a dormant period during the cooler months, and this can be a little discerning for many new growers as it is often unclear how to look after them whilst dormant. Simply keep plants a little drier when they are dormant, but ensure the soil or potting mix does not dry completely as this will cause the rhizomes to dry and die off completely.
