Sambucus Elderberry Black Lace (PBR)

An exciting form of Sambucus, Elderberry Black Lace features richly coloured foliage that is deeply cut giving a delicate lacy appearance. the purple colouring of the foliage is best in plants grown in full sun.

The finely cut, pinnate foliage is red-green as a young leafy shoot, becoming a rich burgundy-black colour as it matures providing very attractive colour and texture throughout the season. Soft pink flowers with a slight lemony fragrance are produced in large clusters up to 15 cm wide from late Spring, followed by very dark ruby-purple rounded berries with a light green flesh, ripening in autumn.

A versatile and robust shrub, Elderberry is suitable for a wide range of situations, positions and soil types. with a naturally compact growth habit Elderberries makes a wonderful plant for hedging or screening. For best results Elderberries appreciate regular watering during dry spells. Can be pruned to shape if required.

Please note: These plants are beginning their Autumn/Winter dormancy and as such will be losing their foliage. Simply plant it out into the planned position and it will now stay dormant until the warmer weather of Spring arrives and new shoots and foliage will begin to appear.
