Salvia Muirii- Cape Sage

Salvia Muirii- Cape Sage is a small, aromatic shrub native to the coastal regions of South Africa. Known for its bright mauve-blue flowers with a white lower lip and finely textured grey-green foliage, this softly mounding shrub brings a gentle, coastal character to the garden. With a neat, rounded growth habit, it thrives in full sun, prefers well-drained soil, and is highly drought tolerant once established.

It flowers mainly in spring and summer but may spot-flower at other times in mild climates. The blooms attract bees and other small pollinators, while the foliage releases a pleasant fragrance when touched.

Salvia muirii tolerates light frost and is ideal for coastal gardens, rockeries, Mediterranean-style plantings, or pots. It requires minimal care—just occasional pruning to shape and encourage fresh growth.

Ideal for perennial borders Salvias are a riot of colour from spring through to autumn. Usually quite drought tolerant and only needing watering during extremely dry periods these perennials are a very good choice for waterwise flower beds and difficult spots and will attract birds and bees into your garden. A good pruning after flowering will ensure strong bushy regrowth for the next season. Most Salvias are suitable for a full sun to part shade position and require very little water once established. Perfect for pots and containers.
