Our Proteaceae Cut Flower Collection has 1 each of three varieties (separately labelled):
Protea Special Pink Ice - (Protea neriifolia x susannae) Possibly the hardiest and most prolific of all Proteas. An abundance of stunning deep pink flowers and bright green foliage makes this a very attractive shrub, and the abundance of flowers makes this a great selection for the cut flower garden. A compact growth habit makes Special Pink Ice ideal for smaller areas and containers. Grows 2.5m H x 2m W
Protea Arctic Ice - em>(Protea cynaroides) A tall growing shrub that shows off one of the largest flower heads in the Protea family. This stunner was bred for the cut flower market and produces magnificent pure white blooms in Winter and Spring. Grows 2m H & W
Berzelia Buttonbush Rose - (Berzelia rubra) A beautiful plant in the garden and wonderful for cut flowers, Berzelia features strong architectural lines and produces clusters of white flowers that emerge in late Winter to Spring, changing to pink /red throughout the season. These attractive shrubs feature pine like leaves and soft green stems making them a terrific backdrop even when they are not in flower. Grows 1.5m H & W
Suitable for cut flowers, members of the Protea family are equally at home in garden beds or on display in pots and containers. Ensure an Australian native potting mix and fertilier is used if growing in pots, and select a pot with adequate drainage holes as these plants do not like to be waterlogged. Plants in this family are very low maintenance, light frost and drought tolerant once established. Proteas are suitable for a variety of soil types but they must be in a well drained soil. Prefers a full sun to part shade position.
