Japanese Windflower- Anemone Royal Candy

A captivating perennial that enchants gardens with its striking blooms and graceful presence, Anemone Royal Candy, is also known as Japanese Windflower. This beautiful Autumn flowering perennial heralds the end of Summer with elegantly semi-double flowers in pastel pink shading down to almost white. The foliage forms an attractive clump of deep green leaves, and the long lasting flowers are borne on long stems that gently wave in the slightest of breeze, giving this stunning plant it's common name. Growing best in a semi shaded position, Japanese Windflowers like a well drained but moist soil, rich in organic matter.

A drought tolerant perennial anemone benefits from additional watering during the Summer months and fertilising when flowers start to form to allow these beautiful plants to make their best display, but care does need to be taken as these plants do not like to be too wet. Cut plants back to rosettes at ground level in Winter once the flowers are spent.

Japanese Windflowers are easy to grow, drought and frost tolerant, but plants do need a bit of care when first replanted. Adding some well rotted animal manure to the soil and ensuring they do not dry out is the best way of allowing these to establish in the garden.
