Hydrangea Runaway Bride

Hydrangea Runaway Bride 'USHYD0405' is an extraordinary, multi-award-winning Hydrangea that produces a breathtaking display of delicate, pure white lacecap flowers along the entire length of its graceful, arching stems. Unlike traditional Hydrangeas that flower mainly at the tips of their branches, this remarkable variety produces blooms from multiple points along each stem, creating spectacular cascades of flowers from late Spring through Summer. The beautiful white blooms may develop a soft pink blush as they mature, adding even more charm to this stunning plant.

A truly exceptional variety, Runaway Bride was crowned Plant of the Year at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2018, followed by Japan's Flower of the Year Award for 2019–2020. Continuing its impressive success, it was also awarded Plant of the Year 2025 in Australia, confirming its reputation as one of the most outstanding ornamental Hydrangeas available.

With its naturally compact, gently spreading habit and attractive fresh green foliage, Runaway Bride is perfect for decorative patio pots, hanging baskets, raised garden beds and shady garden borders. Its elegant, arching branches become smothered in flowers, creating a romantic, cascading display that looks particularly spectacular spilling over the edges of large containers and elevated planters. Growing to approximately 1–1.5m tall and wide, this exceptional Hydrangea makes a magnificent feature plant for patios, verandahs and sheltered garden spaces.

Easy to grow and wonderfully rewarding, Hydrangea Runaway Bride thrives in a partly shaded position with protection from harsh afternoon sun. Plant in rich, moist, well-drained soil and water regularly, particularly during warmer weather, as Hydrangeas prefer not to dry out. Apply a slow-release fertiliser in Spring and lightly prune after flowering if required to maintain its attractive shape. Avoid heavy pruning, as flowers form on the previous year's shoots and excessive pruning may reduce the following season's display. A truly magnificent Hydrangea that brings elegance, romance and masses of beautiful blooms to any garden.
