Hoya Carnosa Pink

Also known as Wax Flower or Porcelain Flower, Hoya carnosa Pink is a hardy climbing vine that has fleshy succulent type leaves and shows off long lasting clusters of starry pink waxlike flowers. This tropical climber is a beautiful indoor plant for cooler climates and in warmer climates Hoya will cope with a sheltered position outdoors, preferably in a shaded or dappled light situation.

Hoyas prefer a well lit position away from direct sunlight and a well drained soil but being a tropical plant they do require humidity to grow well. Regular misting when the plants are not in flower will be appreciated, but care needs to be taken not to overwater, particularly during the cooler months.

Hoyas have been a firm favourite with indoor plant enthusiats for many years due to the level of neglect that these plants can tolerate. Hoyas dislike being disturbed so they are a perfect set and forget type of plant. Select a well drained pot and use a potting mix with large pieces similar to Orchid mix. Take care not to fertilise as this will discourage these light feeders to flower. Ensure plants are watered occasionally, especially in winter, but do not let the plants become overdry as this will damage their roots.
