Fockea Edulis

Grown for it's unusual swollen caudex, Fockea edulis makes an impressive 'bonsai' plant that is guaranteed to start conversation.

Usually planted so part of the root system is exposed, this unusual plant is actually a climbing type of vine and the stems can grow up to 4 metres if allowed to. Generally speaking the stems are twisted around in an attractive fashion or simply kept cut short to continue the illusion of the plant being a Bonsai specimen.

In cooler climates or under stress, this oddity can be semi-deciduous, but generally speaking the bright green foliage will persist on this plant for the whole year.

Whilst not technically a succulent, Fockea are best treated like one and requires a well drained soil or a succulent mix. Watering when the soil is dry is required in the warmer months while this plant is actively growing but less frequent watering is required during the cooler months. Fockea prefers a brightly lit position out of direct sunlight.
