The lush, deep green foliage provides a rich backdrop through the warmer months, transitioning to vibrant orange-red tones in Autumn. In milder climates, the foliage may remain on the tree through Winter, lending a semi-evergreen presence to the garden.
In early Summer, creamy white flower bracts emerge, held in showy clusters that mature to a soft blush pink—a beautiful and delicate transition that adds further charm. As Summer progresses, the tree produces ornamental pink, strawberry-like fruits, which not only add visual appeal but are also highly attractive to birds.
Like all members of the Cornus genus, Eric Gennet is easy to grow and requires minimal maintenance once established. It thrives in sunny to partly shaded positions, with best results achieved in a sheltered location offering some protection from hot afternoon sun—particularly in warmer climates, where the foliage can be prone to burning.
Requiring only regular watering during hot spells, this pest- and disease-resistant tree is well-suited to a variety of garden styles, from formal landscapes to informal cottage gardens. It performs best in cooler parts of Australia, where it can fully express its seasonal character and natural elegance.
