Elaeagnus Gilt Edge

Elaeagnus Gilt Edge is a stunning fast growing evergreen shrub renowned for its beautifully variegated foliage featuring rich, dark green leaves edged with brilliant golden-yellow margins. The striking two-toned foliage creates a spectacular display of colour throughout the year, bringing warmth, brightness and contrast to garden beds, hedges and mixed plantings. Small, delicately fragrant, creamy-white flowers may appear during autumn, adding an extra touch of charm to this already impressive shrub.

With its naturally dense, bushy growth habit and vibrant golden foliage, Elaeagnus Gilt Edge is an excellent choice for colourful hedging, screening, garden borders and feature plantings. Its bold variegated leaves provide year-round interest and look particularly beautiful when planted alongside darker green shrubs or contrasting flowering perennials. This versatile shrub responds well to pruning and can be clipped into a neat, formal hedge or left to develop into an attractive, informal screen, making it a fantastic addition to both traditional and contemporary gardens.

Extremely hardy and relatively low maintenance, Elaeagnus Gilt Edge thrives in a full sun to partly shaded position in well-drained soil. Once established, it is tolerant of heat, coastal conditions, wind and dry periods, making it an excellent choice for most gardens. Regular trimming will encourage dense, bushy growth and help maintain a neat, compact shape, while an application of a complete fertiliser in spring will promote healthy foliage and vigorous growth. For the most vibrant golden variegation, plant in a position that receives plenty of sunlight.
