Dwarf Plum Santa Rosa

Dwarf Plum Santa Rosa is a much-loved classic, now grafted onto dwarfing rootstock — ideal for smaller gardens, courtyards, or pots without compromising on fruit quality or yield. This prolific variety produces large, top-quality plums with purplish-crimson skin and a pale blue bloom. The juicy, golden-yellow flesh is blushed red just beneath the skin, offering a mildly sweet flavour with a pleasant tartness near the skin and stone. Highly versatile, the fruit is perfect for eating fresh, as well as for canning, baking, or making jam.

Santa Rosa is partially self-fertile and will produce an excellent crop on its own, but planting it alongside a compatible variety like Mariposa will result in even larger harvests. It also serves as an effective cross-pollinator for many other plum varieties.

This compact fruiting tree is an excellent choice for home gardens, especially where space is limited. Grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock, it grows to a manageable height of around 2 metres, while still producing full-sized, high-quality fruit.

Plant in a full sun position in well-fertilised, free-draining soil. As with all fruiting trees, regular pruning, feeding, and consistent watering—especially during the warmer months—will help ensure a healthy tree and a generous crop.
