Dichondra Silver Surfer

Dichondra Silver Surfer is a stunning ornamental foliage plant prized for its beautiful shimmering silver leaves and graceful, cascading growth habit. Producing masses of small, rounded, silvery leaves along slender trailing stems, this eye-catching variety creates a spectacular waterfall of silver foliage that adds elegance and texture to any garden setting.

Similar to the ever-popular Dichondra Silver Falls, Silver Surfer has a more compact, bushier growth habit with shorter, more controlled trailing stems. While Silver Falls is renowned for its long, dramatic cascades of silver foliage, Silver Surfer offers a neater, fuller appearance, making it particularly well suited to smaller pots, hanging baskets and mixed container displays where a more compact full display is preferred.

Perfect for hanging baskets, decorative pots, window boxes and raised garden beds, Dichondra Silver Surfer looks particularly impressive when allowed to spill over the edges of containers or retaining walls. Its soft, metallic silver foliage provides a striking contrast against colourful flowering plants, making it an excellent choice for mixed plantings and contemporary garden designs. It can also be grown as an attractive spreading groundcover in well-drained garden beds.

Easy to grow and wonderfully low maintenance, Dichondra Silver Surfer thrives in a full sun to part shade position, with the best silver colouring developing in plenty of sunlight. It prefers well-drained soil and is tolerant of heat and dry conditions once established. Water regularly during establishment and when grown in containers, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

With its beautiful silvery colour, soft texture and tidy trailing habit, Dichondra Silver Surfer is a versatile and reliable performer that brings year-round interest to patios, balconies, hanging baskets and garden displays.
