Also known as English Broom, Cytisus are a hardy evergreen shrub with an upright growth habit. The lightly fragranced pea shaped flowers are very attractive to butterflies and bees, and other beneficial insects making this an excellent choice for a pollinator's garden.
Cytisus grows well in a full sun to partly shaded position and this fast growing shrub is tolerant to a wide range of soils and climates. It will cope well in poor or sandy soils making it a very versatile addition in challenging areas. For best results water deeply during dry spells and a light pruning as flowers begin to fade will keep this plant compact and bushy.
