Crepe Myrtle Tuscarora
SKU: TRECMYTUS
Possibly one of the best deep pink Crepe Myrtles, Tuscarora is a showy, small tree with masses of bright flowers in Summer, highly ornamental bark and very good Autumn colour. Part of the Indian Summer® Crepe Myrtle range, Tuscarora is an adaptable and disease resistant plant suitable for a range of situations. On mature trees the bark is a dark olive green, and once the tree is mature, it exfoliates revealing a smooth, pinkish-caramel underbark. Producing impossibly bright hot pink flowers that are borne in large panicles on the ends of current season’s growth, this tree provides a stunning highlight to the garden during the whole year.

Crepe Myrtles, also known as Lagerstroemia, are small to medium-sized deciduous shrubby trees that thrive in the Australian climate. Well adapted to heat, they perform beautifully even in the hottest conditions.
These trees are deciduous, with foliage that turns a striking orange-red in Autumn before dropping. This makes them ideal for planting on the northern side of the garden—allowing precious Winter sunlight to filter through once the leaves fall. They also make excellent specimen trees or focal points in landscape designs.
Crepe Myrtles are highly versatile and will grow well in almost any position. They prefer moist, well-drained soil and perform best in full sun or partial shade. While they are tolerant of dry conditions, regular watering during extended dry periods is recommended, especially during the establishment phase. They are frost hardy and mildew resistant.
The Indian Summer® series of Crepe Myrtles have been specially selected for their exceptional resistance to common pests and diseases, including leaf spot and powdery mildew. This makes them particularly well-suited to Australia’s more humid regions.
When planting bare-rooted Indian Summer® Lagerstroemia, it is recommended to prune the plant back by approximately 30%. This encourages strong root development and vigorous new growth in Spring.
