Chilean Guava

Chilean Guava, also known as Tazzberry, is a beautiful evergreen shrub that combines ornamental appeal with delicious home-grown fruit. Glossy dark green foliage with attractive red tinges creates a lush, dense plant that is perfect for hedging, while masses of fragrant summer flowers add extra seasonal interest.

In autumn, the plant produces an abundance of aromatic berries about the size of a blueberry. Ripening from deep burgundy through to lighter shades as they mature, the fruit has a unique flavour often described as a cross between strawberries and vanilla cream. Delicious eaten fresh from the bush, the berries are also excellent for desserts, jams and other culinary creations.

Chilean Guava is an exceptionally hardy and reliable fruiting plant that performs well in a wide range of climates and garden positions. Drought tolerant once established and rarely troubled by pests or disease, it is an easy-care addition to any edible garden. Better still, birds generally leave the fruit untouched, so there is usually no need for protective netting.
