Clusters of bright pink flowers smother the bare stems in early Spring followed by large and glossy heart shaped foliage in a rich purple to plum colouring in the Summer months, ageing to brilliant yellow and orange tonings in Autumn. Foliage colour will be at it's best in plants grown in full sun.
Cercis Merlot is highly adaptable and is more tolerant of warmer climates than many other Cercis forms and prefers a deep well-drained soil and a position in full sun or partial shade. Drought tolerant once established but best results when adequate water is provided during dry periods.
