Camellia Volunteer

Released and named for the International Year of the Volunteer, Camellia Volunteer is an upright evergreen Camellia that features large fully double flowers that look like a ruffled pincushion. Each flower can grow to 10cm across, and in Winter these beautiful flowers open soft pink with a white edge to each petal, changing colour during the growing season to a deeper rich pink and white. the final flush of flowers late in the season may even be pure red, making this lovely variety a real talking point.

Evergreen, hardy and frost tolerant are the main attributes that make Camellias loved world wide. With a dense compact growth habit and upright growth, Camellias are ideal for screens, hedging, large containers and espaliers. Camellias flower from late Winter to Spring, adding a touch of colour when the garden can be a little dull. Lightly prune every couple of years to create density and maintain shape. Prefers a partly shaded position in well drained soil and regular watering during the dryer months. Frost hardy.
