Also known as Angel Wings, Caladium are stunning and highly sought after due to their striking foliage often highlighted with colourful markings. With a leaf size that can grow to around 25-30 cm, these amazingly beautiful tropical foliage plants make wonderful indoor plants in cooler climates.
Caladiums love a warm and humid environment. A brightly lit area that is warm, and regular watering during the growth season is the bare minimum that these beautiful plant require to grow on and create a magnificent display. Tropical and sub tropical gardeners may be able to grow this beautiful plant outdoors in a warm sheltered position with excellent drainage; in all other areas we recommend growing Caladiums in a pot.
TOP TIPS: Bright indirect light is best for your plant. Keep soil slightly moist but not overwet, and once dormant, dry store the tuber to avoid rotting. Caladiums grow best when the average temperature is above 21 degrees during the day and 15 degrees or above during the night. Lower temperatures can be tolerated but they will not grow as large as they do under warmer conditions. Caladium leaves are extremely variable, often green when they emerge, and as they mature they take on amazing and exotic colouration. Each leaf truly is an individual masterpiece making this incredibly special plant even more amazing.
