Blechnum Alpine Water Fern

A dainty groundcover that spreads by rhizomes, Blechnum Alpine Water Fern is an extremely hardy fern that tolerates cooler climates quite well. This charming tufted type of fern has an interesting foliage texture, and new growth takes on delightful autumnal tonings before they fronds change to it's normal lush green colour. The delicate looking fronds and the spreading growth habit means this fern grows and spreads quite well in a shaded rockery or fernery.

Growing well in a shaded damp spot, most Ferns also grow well when used as an indoor houseplant. Simply pop them into a decorative pot, preferably with a saucer that will hold water and keep the humidity high, water and fertilise regularly and enjoy. This Fern is easy to grow and will add a delicate touch to a shaded garden, and when grown as a clump they make an excellent groundcover due to their low arching growth habit.
