Banksia (Dryandra) Undata

Possibly one of the easiest and most cultivated of the ‘Dryandra group’ of Banksias, Undata is also known as the Urchin Dryandra. This spectacular large shrub is fast growing and will be generally long lived in most areas. Growing and flowering well in even subtropical areas, the lifespan may be a little shorter in these areas due to the humidity. Featuring serrated, stiff green leaves and pale lemon flowers in Winter, this drought tolerant evergreen shrub requires a well drained soil and a partly shaded position protected from frost. Perfect for cut flowers and floral displays, this handsome shrub would be an ideal choice for the back of a border or garden bed due to its impressive size.

Banksias are a very versatile Australian Native plant that provide valuable food for nectar loving wildlife. They require a well drained open position and are particularly suited to growing in coastal areas. Drought and frost tolerant once established, Banksia will grow better if watered regularly in dry conditions. If grown in pots ensure a potting mix for Australian Native plants is used and only ever fertilise with an Australia Native plant food.
