Anemone Poppy Bicolour

Anemone Poppy Bicolour has stunning bi-coloured mauve to blue flowers with a black centre.

Anemones are colourful, reliable and wonderfully low-maintenance plants that deserve a place in every spring garden. Each tuber produces attractive, finely cut, fern-like foliage followed by numerous flowers held gracefully above the leaves. Their jewel-like blooms begin appearing from mid winter and can continue through to late spring with regular watering, deadheading and an occasional application of liquid fertiliser throughout the flowering season.

Perfect for garden beds, borders, pots and mass plantings, Anemones create an impressive display without requiring a large investment of time or effort. Plant them in generous groups for a vibrant sweep of colour, or combine them with other spring-flowering bulbs for a long-lasting seasonal display. Their flowers are also excellent for cutting, with strong stems and an impressive vase life of approximately 7–10 days.

Anemones perform best in a sunny, well-drained position and tolerate frost well. Before planting, soak the tubers in tepid water for approximately 1–2 hours to help rehydrate them and encourage earlier sprouting. Plant with the pointed end facing down, cover with soil and water well. If it is difficult to determine which way is up, simply plant the tuber on its side—it will naturally find its way towards the surface.

Water regularly while the plants are actively growing and flowering, taking care not to leave the soil waterlogged. Removing spent flowers will help keep the plants looking tidy and encourage them to continue producing blooms. Easy to grow and highly rewarding, Anemones are an excellent choice for filling the garden with brilliant colour during the cooler months.
