This normally large tropical rainforest plant is quite happy being grown as an indoor plant and will create a colourful display for many years with the correct care. Ficus Burgundy shows off burgundy coloured foliage that almost has a metallic sheen to it, with new growth being developed inside a deep red coloured sheath which falls off when the leaf is mature enough to unfurl.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRubber Trees grow well in a warm position and will cope with gentle sunlight. Being a rainforest plant, Ficus grows well in a warmer sheltered position inside or outside, but protection from the scorching sun is required as the foliage is likely to burn if left in the scorching sun. Reasonably drought tolerant, Ficus will cope with irregular watering and will look sad and a bit droopy when thirsty. Preferring light humidity, Ficus appreciate regular watering, but do not let the plant become waterlogged as this will cause fungal issues and most likely death, particularly during Winter. For best results fertilise regularly with a slow release fertiliser and repot every few years using a good quality potting mix for indoor plants.
