Ideal for bright indoor spaces or sheltered verandahs, this compact plant thrives in warm, draft-free environments and brings a refined touch of beauty to any setting.

One of the world's most popular houseplants, African Violets have been a popular choice for indoor gardeners for many years, for very good reasons. These stunning pot plants add life and colour without needing a great deal of attention, and are very easy to grow and care for if certain conditions are followed. Enjoying similar temperatures that we find comfortable in our homes, African Violets co-exist very easily and are available in a wide range of beautiful colours and types, making them an extremely interesting plant to collect.

Light, watering and potting mix are the most important things for the health and wellbeing of African Violets.

LIGHT: They require a brightly lit position out of direct sunlight. Near a northerly or easterly facing window is a good place for them as any direct sunlight they receive will be early and not too intense, and as the day progresses there should be enough brightness to keep them happy. Regularly turning your pot around so the same side is not always facing towards the window is a good way of maintaining even growth all around your plant too, and this will help stop it reaching one way towards the light. Artificial lighting works well with African Violets too; fluorescent or LED lighting wil help supplement natural lighting if the perfect spot is not available.

WATERING: Ensure the foliage of your plant is kept dry. African Violet leaves will rot or develop fungal spots if the plants are watered from overhead; we recommend carefully watering the soil only, or sit the pot in a few cm of water for half an hour or so to allow water to wick up through the potting mix. Do not allow these plants to become waterlogged as they will very quickly rot. Regularly check the soil and only water when it is absolutely necessary.

POTTING MIX: African Violets require a lightweight, well draining potting mix and a number of enthusiasts recommend preparing a customer blended mix for their plants. Specialist African Violet Potting mix is available from most larger retailers and this is an extremely good blend for these plants.

FERTILISING: During the warmer months, African Violets will benefit from being regularly fertilised. Use a general purpose flowering plant fertiliser at half strength, or for best results, select a fertiliser specifically for African Violets. Follow the directions accordingly.

**Please Note: Stock will be in store/ available for shipping from Wednesday 18th June.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0928/0805/2920/files/african-violet-p10avimma-maxi-marilyn.jpg?v=1785380760
