Massonia Amoena

As the Summer days become longer and Autumn begins to settle in, Massonia Amoena produces two opposite ground hugging flattish blue green leaves with raised dark green markings. This unusual Autumn/ Winter growing bulb will then produce a stemless cluster of tubular white flowers nestled in between the foliage, giving this quaint ground dweller a beautifully decorated appearance. Like most bulbous plants, the ideal time to lift and replant Massonia is during their dormant period in Summer so we are excited to offer a limited quantity to our customers.

For best results select a well drained sandy soil, and if grown in pots use a gritty well draining potting mix. Keep plants fairly dry whilst dormant, and only water sparingly as Summer begins to turn into Autumn. When leaves begin to appear, watering once a week should be adequate. After flowering begin to withold watering and cease completely when leaves begin to die back. Plants require protection from frost and extreme cold.
