Aglaonema Red Valentine

Showing off amazing colours Aglaonema Red Valentine is an extremely tough indoor plant that is perfect for beginners. With broad glossy green leaves this shade lover has generous splashes of pink that becomes stronger as the plant ages, making it an excellent choice for adding colour to indoor plant collections or a warm sheltered spot.

Also known as Chinese Evergreen, Aglaonema tolerates almost all indoor conditions and is a terrific choice for homes and offices. Considered good luck in it's native homeland of China, the exotic looking blotched foliage of this slow growing plant is an excellent air cleaner wherever it is grown.

This very popular and striking member of the Aracea family is very hardy as an indoor plant and can be grown outside in a sheltered position in a warmer climate. Aglaonema will flower, but as the flowers are not very showy, it is recommended that they are pinched out so the plant puts most of its energy into producing the luxurious foliage. Larger mature plants can have leaves measuring up to 40 or 50 cm long.

Perfect for pots, Aglaonema requires a well drained soil and a brightly lit position out of direct sunlight. Preferring light humidity, Chinese Evergreen appreciates regular watering, but do not let the plant become waterlogged as this will cause fungal issues and most likely death, particularly during Winter. For best results fertilise regularly with a slow release fertiliser and repot every few years using a good quality potting mix for indoor plants.
