A member of the Prayer Plant family, Calathea makoyana forms an attractive, lush clump of foliage that brings colour, texture and tropical elegance to any indoor space. Its beautifully patterned leaves gently rise and fold in response to changing light throughout the day, adding movement and interest. As plants mature, the impressive foliage can reach up to 40–50cm in length, creating a magnificent feature in decorative pots, indoor displays and sheltered patios. In warmer climates, Peacock Plant can also be grown outdoors in a protected, shady position.
Perfect for adding a lush, tropical feel to your home or office, Calathea makoyana thrives in a warm, brightly lit position away from direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate foliage. Preferring well-drained soil and moderate to high humidity, this tropical beauty appreciates regular watering to keep the soil lightly moist without becoming waterlogged. Reduce watering during Winter and protect from cold temperatures and draughts.
For best results, fertilise during the warmer growing months with a suitable indoor plant fertiliser and repot every few years using a premium quality potting mix. With its extraordinary leaf patterns, graceful growth habit and vibrant foliage, Calathea makoyana is a wonderful choice for creating a stunning tropical statement in any indoor living space.
