Colchicum Cilicicum

Showing off deep rose/lilac flowers in late Spring into Autumn, Colchicum cilicicum features large honey fragranced star shaped flowers on short stems. Also known as Autumn Crocus, these easy to grow bulbs are dormant through Summer before bursting into vibrant color as the weather changes and cools into Autumn. A beautiful bulb to allow to naturalise under a tree or along a garden path, each bulb can produce up to 30 flowers.

Easily naturalised, Colchicum will bloom year after year with a minimum of fuss, with clumps getting bigger with age. The leaves appear in late Winter/ Spring, long after the flowers disappear.

Colchicum can be grown as a novelty type of plant as they will happily flower inside on a plate with no soil or water. For the sake of the bulb however, they must be planted immediately after flowering so it can go through the life cycle in the soil.

Ideal for pots and containers, Colchicum prefers a full sun to partly shaded position and does not usually require any supplementary watering.
