Acacia Saligna

Commonly known as Golden Wattle, Orange Wattle, or sometimes Western Australian Golden Wattle, Acacia Saligna is a fast-growing, medium-sized Australian native tree or large shrub. It is well known for its graceful, weeping foliage and vibrant golden-yellow flower clusters that brighten the landscape from late Winter to early Spring, attracting birds, bees, and other pollinators in abundance.

With its soft, drooping habit and long, slender phyllodes, this species has a gentle, cascading form that brings movement and texture to garden plantings. The bright, ball-shaped flowers form in dense clusters along the branches, creating a striking seasonal display and a reliable nectar source for native wildlife.

Acacia saligna is highly adaptable and thrives in a wide variety of soil types, including sandy, loamy, and even nutrient-poor or degraded soils. It prefers a full sun position and, once established, is both drought-tolerant and salt-tolerant—making it especially well-suited to coastal environments and dry, exposed sites.
