Seed Potato Salad Collection
Pack of 4

Our Seed Potato Salad Collection has 4 (separately labelled) ‘gourmet’ varieties that are terrific for a number of uses but we love these ones for making Potato Salad.

Banana– A fingerling variety that grows as a small elongated potato. With a yellow skin and waxy yellow flesh this variety is ideal for salads, boiling and baking. Supplied as a 500gr pack.

Purple Congo – An unusual looking potato that features dark purple/black skin and striking purple flesh. This amazing variety is packed full of all the good antioxidants, and retains the unusual colour once cooked making it an exciting change on the plate. Purple Congo is a prolific variety, so good crops of the lumpy elongated tubers are very easy to grow. This variety is classified as a floury potato so it is suitable for boiling, steaming, mashing, salads, and they make a wonderfully unusual coloured gnocchi. Supplied as a 500gr pack.

Salad Rose – Featuring a red skin with yellow flesh, Salad Rose is excellent for salads, steaming, boiling, roasting and mashing. it is also a very good variety for soups and stews as it won’t break apart once cooked. Supplied as a 1kg pack.

Nadine – An excellent variety with a high yield of oval shaped tubers with white skin and creamy flesh. Nadine is excellent for salads and boiling and is a very good variety for mashing and roasting. Supplied as a 1kg pack.

1 kg is approx. 8-12 potatoes.
500gr is approx.4-6 potatoes.

Certified seed potatoes are grown in controlled field conditions to ensure they are true to type and free from disease. Therefore plants will show vigorous growth and a greater yield.
For best results plant after frosts have finished in your area. Before planting, spread potatoes out in a well-lit warm place for several weeks so they get some short thick sprouts. Tubers can be cut so one or two eyes are evident on each piece but ensure cut pieces are allowed to dry before planting to minimise risk of rotting. Ensure pieces are not too small as this can reduce the yield.
Plant tubers about 15 cm deep in the soil and then cover with 25-30 cm of mulch or well prepared soil, making a hill around the planted tubers. Potatoes are usually ready for harvest 110-130 days from planting, or when the foliage has completely yellowed and stopped growing, but small early harvests can be taken once new potatoes reach a useable size. These Chats, or new potatoes are delicious but bear in mind this will reduce the yield of larger spuds.

Supplied as dormant tubers.

Important Reminder: While we take great care in the realistic representation of our products, many variables such as climatic conditions, natural variation or manufacturing changes may affect the precise appearance of each variety. Generally, images used are of mature specimens whilst supplied stock may be dormant or juvenile plants that will develop with time. The images are intended as a guide only.
